小さな楕円の中に、静かな祈りが収められています。

メダイユは19世紀以降、ヨーロッパで信仰とともに広がった宗教的チャームのひとつです。単なる装身具ではなく、身につける人のそばで見守る存在として受け継がれてきました。旅の安全、日々の無事、心の安定。そうした願いを、過度に主張することなく、静かに象徴する造形です。

このチャームは、正面に聖母の姿を配したオーバル型のメダイユ。縁には細やかな装飾が施され、裏面にはイニシャルと星のモチーフが刻まれています。印刷ではなく、凹凸で表現されたレリーフ状の仕上げが、光の角度によってやわらかく陰影を生みます。小さいながらも、指先に感じる確かな立体感があります。

サイズは、通常ご紹介しているメダイユペンダントより一回り小ぶりの設計です。（※詳細サイズ要確認）
素材はシルバートーンの金属と見受けられますが、正確な素材・刻印の有無は要確認となります。

この控えめなサイズだからこそ、選択肢が広がります。

A small oval holds a quiet sense of protection.

Medals such as this began to spread widely across Europe in the 19th century, worn not simply as adornment but as personal devotional objects. They were carried close to the body—sometimes visible, sometimes hidden—serving as subtle companions through daily life. Rather than making bold statements, they offered reassurance through presence.

This piece features the Virgin Mary in relief on the front, framed by a delicately textured border. On the reverse, an “M” motif with stars is rendered in raised detail. The design is not printed but struck in relief, allowing soft shadows to form as light moves across the surface. Despite its modest scale, there is a clear sense of dimension when held between the fingers.

It is slightly smaller than the medallion pendants we usually introduce.

チャームは、装飾品である前に、時間を留めるための小さな器です。
ヴィンテージジュエリーの世界では、チャームブレスレットは19世紀のヨーロッパから広がり、旅の記憶や人生の節目、個人の興味や価値観を重ねていく文化として育まれてきました。ひとつ加わるたびに物語が増えていくその構造は、単なる装いを超え、heirloom ― 受け継がれる存在 ― へと自然に変化していきます。
私自身も、母からチャームブレスレットを受け継ぎました。
母は子どものころ、旅した国ごとに小さなチャームを贈られていたそうです。中国、フランス、イギリス、ドイツ。そこには風景だけでなく、彼女の興味も映し出されています。工作が好きだった彼女を象徴する小さなハサミ、縫い物が好きだったことを思わせるシンブル（thimble）。
その人にしか生まれない、lifelong curation のかたちでした。
チャームは数を揃えるためのものではなく、
今の自分と違和感のない一つを重ねていくもの。
後回しにされやすい存在かもしれませんが、
静かに選んだ一片は、やがて自分の時間を語る輪郭になります。
