時を刻むだけではない、そっと物語をささやくようなヴィンテージウォッチ。この Austin の手巻き時計は、まさにそんな特別な存在。詩的なフォルムと深みのあるディテールに満ち、静かに過去とつながるような感覚を届けてくれます。

Austinは現代ではあまり知られていないものの、1950〜60年代頃、腕時計がジュエリーであり、個人のアイデンティティでもあった時代に活躍したブランドのひとつ。この時計にも、戦後のアール・ヌーヴォー的優美さが息づいています。

まず目を引くのは、やわらかな光沢を帯びたヴィンテージゴールドのフレーム。そしてケースの上下には、どこか蟹の爪を思わせるような、あるいは蕾のような有機的なクロー型の装飾が施されており、装飾的でありながらも凛とした佇まいを感じさせます。

文字盤には数字がなく、代わりに細長いスリットが葉の影のように時を指す、静謐なデザイン。過剰な主張のない美しさが、手首にすっと馴染みます。

ブレスレットタイプのベルトもまたエレガントで、肌に寄り添うようなスリムなつけ心地。全体のフォルムは手首に溶け込むような一体感を持ち、日常使いにも特別な場にも寄り添ってくれます。

内部には手巻きの機械式ムーブメントが搭載され、毎日のゼンマイ巻きが、まるで小さな儀式のよう。自分の手で時を動かすことで、時計との関係に愛着が深まり、「時間」と向き合う贅沢を味わえます。

買い付けたのは、週末だけ開かれる室内のウェアハウス・マーケット。何十年も時計に携わってきたエジプト系の老夫婦とは長いお付き合いで、私が手巻き時計を探していることを知っており、特別にいくつか用意してくださった中の一点がこちらでした。

フェイスのフレーム部分に経年による擦れが若干見られますが、全体としては良好なヴィンテージコンディション。その風合いも含めて価値ある一本であり、価格にも適切に反映させています。

ブラックニットやリネンシャツと合わせて、ゴールドのシルエットがほのかに際立つコーディネートがおすすめ。忙しない日常の中で、ふと立ち止まりたくなるような「静けさ」を、そっと手元に。

Some vintage pieces don’t just tell time — they whisper stories. This exquisite wind-up watch by Austin is one such treasure: poetic in form, rich in detail, and deeply evocative of another era.

Though the Austin name is lesser-known today, it was part of a generation of mid-century watchmakers producing elegant ladies’ timepieces at a time when watches were both jewellery and personal artefacts. Likely crafted in the 1950s–60s, this piece reflects the Art Nouveau revival sensibility of the postwar decades, when ornate elegance made a gentle return to fashion.

What draws the eye immediately is the gold-tone frame, aged to a mellow lustre over time — a warmth that only vintage metal can offer. The top and bottom of the case are crowned with sculpted claw-like motifs, reminiscent of delicate crustacean forms or organic buds in bloom, creating a silhouette that feels at once mysterious and graceful.

The square dial features a minimalist beauty: no numbers, only elongated slits like tiny leaf shadows, marking the hours. It’s a quiet, confident design, meant to be noticed not by flash but by feeling.

The bracelet-style band is slim and soft against the skin, and the overall structure of the watch seems to melt naturally into the wrist, like something you’ve always worn. Inside, it houses a mechanical wind-up movement — a charming relic of a slower era. This piece was acquired from a trusted Egyptian couple at a weekend-only indoor warehouse market — true veterans in the world of vintage watches, with whom we’ve built a warm relationship. Knowing my love for wind-up mechanisms, they had set aside a few special pieces in advance — and this was one of them.

While light wear can be seen on the case — a trace of its journey through time — the watch remains in overall good condition, and the signs of age have been gently reflected in the price.

昨年からはオーストラリア北部の街で過ごす時間が長くなり、これまであまり馴染みのなかったこの地域のマーケットを巡るようになりました。まるで探検のようでもあり、フィールドワークのようでもあり・・。次々と新しい出会いに恵まれ、驚くほどの速さで発見が積み重なっていった日々でした。

早朝の澄んだ空気のなかで開かれるもの、森に囲まれた小さなもの、にぎわいの中にぽつんと現れる静かなヴィンテージの屋台——何度も足を運ぶうちに、どの場所にどんな出会いがあるのか、少しずつ肌で感じられるようになってきました。

そんな日々のなかで見つけたものたちを、ようやくみなさまにご紹介できる機会が整いました。

ここ１ヶ月は、いつものようにマーケットを巡りながら、その様子をこのInstagramのストーリーズやライブ配信、投稿、リール動画を通して、少しずつお届けしてきました。見つけたアイテムだけでなく、その背景や空気感、どんなふうに惹かれて手に取ったのかまで、なるべく丁寧にお伝えしようとつとめてまいりました。

仕入れた品はひとつひとつ手で磨き、整えながら、その過程や、スタイリングの提案、そして個人的に特に心に残ったお気に入りのご紹介などもさせていただきました。そして、この1か月の記録の集大成として6月に見つけたアイテムが、ささやかな物語とともに並びます。どのようにして、ひとつのジュエリーが"誰かの宝物"になっていくのか——その過程そのものを、みなさまと分かち合えたら嬉しいです。

Since last year, I’ve been spending more time a northern part of Australia—an area I hadn’t been very familiar with before. I began visiting local markets there, and the experience has felt part exploration, part fieldwork. One discovery led to another, and before I knew it, the days became a whirlwind of encounters and inspiration.

Some markets open in the crisp stillness of early morning, others are tucked away in forested corners, while quiet vintage stalls appear almost like a mirage amidst the bustle. With each visit, I started to get a sense—almost instinctively—of what kinds of treasures might be found in each place.

And now, I finally have the chance to share some of those finds with you.

Over the past month, I’ve continued my usual market visits while slowly documenting the journey through Instagram Stories, livestreams, posts, and reels. I’ve tried to share not just the items themselves, but the atmosphere behind them—the feeling of the moment I was drawn to each piece, and the story it carried.

Each item I sourced has been polished by hand and thoughtfully prepared. Along the way, I’ve also shared styling ideas and personal favourites that left a particular impression on me. And now, as a culmination of these weeks of exploration, the pieces I found in June are ready—presented here with their quiet stories. I hope to share not just the jewellery, but the very process of how a piece becomes someone’s treasure.
